How can I release the Charging Gun if it’s stuck?

What to do if the charging port cover won’t open?

To open the charging port cover, your vehicle must be in an unlocked state. Some car owners immediately lock their vehicles after exiting, which can prevent the charging port cover from opening.

Electric vehicle users at charging stations may encounter situations where the charging gun is locked. According to the general requirements for electric vehicle charging connection devices, “the connection should not be disconnected, and the device should not be damaged when a pulling force of 200N is applied to the charging gun in the locked state.”

Security Reminder: Do not forcefully remove the gun after locking!
For the sake of charging safety, national standards have established technical specifications for the locking function of charging guns. Forceful removal of the gun is not advisable and poses an electric shock risk. Typically, improper operation leads to abnormal locking of the gun.

To effectively avoid abnormal gun locking while charging, adhere to the following two points:

After connecting the charging gun to the vehicle, do not attempt to remove it during the charging process.
After charging is complete, wait for the settlement process to finish and listen for voice prompts before attempting to remove the gun; otherwise, it may lead to gun locking.
In case of a locked gun, you can use the following methods to unlock it quickly:

Check whether the vehicle is still in a charging state. If it is, stop the charging (usually an operation on the charging equipment) before removing the gun.
If the charging process has stopped but the gun still cannot be removed, check whether the charging software indicates that the charging is complete. After a brief wait, attempt to remove the gun (different charging station brands may have varying cooling times immediately after the charging process stops).
If neither of the above methods stops the charging or allows you to remove the gun, you can try using the emergency stop button on the charging station (usually a red button on the charging station’s body), which is likely to resolve the issue (it is recommended to perform this operation under the guidance of customer service).

To effectively prevent abnormal gun locking while charging, remember these two points:

After connecting the charging gun to the vehicle, do not attempt to remove it during the charging process.

Scenario One: The charging gun handle is not depressed.
When inserting or removing the charging gun, you must hold the charging gun handle.

Scenario Two: The vehicle’s anti-theft system is engaged and not unlocked.
If you encounter difficulties removing the charging gun, first check whether the vehicle has been unlocked. The charging gun can only be removed if the anti-theft system is engaged, locking it after the car has been locked.

Emergency Unlocking Specific Procedure:
If, after attempting the above methods, the charging port cover remains unopenable, or the charging gun cannot be removed, you will need to use emergency unlocking. In this case, open the trunk and locate the electric lock.

Pulling down the electric lock lever for the charging port cover will place it in an unlocked state (the lever must be manually returned to its original position). This will allow you to open the charging port cover.

Four: Try manual emergency unlocking:
Find the position of the unlocking knob for the charging gun, which has a round, rotatable knob at the bottom of the handle. It is advisable to keep a screwdriver in the car for occasional needs (this operation should be performed under the guidance of customer service).

Scenario Two: The vehicle’s anti-theft system is engaged and not unlocked. If you encounter difficulties removing the charging gun, first check if the vehicle is unlocked. The charging gun can only be removed when the anti-theft system is engaged, locking it after the car has been locked.

In the case that the above measures do not resolve the issue and the charging port cover remains inaccessible or the charging gun cannot be detached, emergency unlocking is required. In this situation, you should access the trunk, where you will find the electric lock.

Pulling down the electric lock lever for the charging port cover will release it from the locked state (the lever must be manually returned to its original position). This will allow you to open the charging port cover.
